Google Top 1000
Google Top 1000 is a list of website who have the number one position at google when you search for the corresponding number. If, for example, you search for the number 42, the number one position is a site on Deep Thought (why not the HHGttG?), so this site would apear in slot 42 of my Google list. I wrote a script to do this, which you can download, but it is very easy to do by hand of course..
Here's the resulting list, the top 12. If you want all, download the file.
1. Mozilla.Org well, Mozilla is often linked to and they do produce a lot of different versions of their products, all with numbers like 0.9.2.1 or so, so that makes it a good target for any number. And their point oh releases always get some extra web attention.
2. Shreck 2 Not surprisingly a movie got number two, what with all those sequels nowadays. I guess we can only be glad that Scary Movie 2 didn't win.
3. 3Com Not so weird actually, this company does rule the number three. The British telecom company called '3' still has some way to go.
4. Channel 4 Again not so weird.
5, 6 Microsoft Internet Explorer Probably the most famous versions of this browser.
7. Netscape Netscape tried to seem more modern by coming out with a version that sounded more advanced than IE 6.0. At least it got them the 7 slot. Opera is just after Netscape.
8. 8 Mile I liked that movie. By the way, yesterday I got Super 8 Models for this slot. I like the movie better.
9. Michael Moore 9/11 Fahrenheit must have gotten him this slot. He scored second on 11.
10. Downing Street The famous number 10.
11. Yahoo! People Search Why? I guess because in the US enquiries is 411. The page self doesn't contain the number 11.
12. Awesome library on K12 K12 is the twelfth grade of US education.
Other interesting sites in the top 1000 include: 24 for the series 24, Bush in thirty seconds(30), Ufo Mind (51), Windows 95 (95), Office 97 (97), Windows 98 (98), Airbus (380).
